Our superbly maintained course has improved dramatically with the introduction of 7 new holes in 2012.
Accuracy and patience are required to fashion a good score at Chippenham, with tight fairways and well protected greens. The yellow tees measure in at 6111 yards while the reds measure 5758, and the competition white tees measure in at 6348 yards.
The more established part of the course requires placement and thought, while the newer holes allow you to open the shoulders a bit more. The greens provide a good defence, being on the smaller side, but once you are on the surface you are guaranteed a smooth and consistent roll. The greens have always been highly regarded.
The course is gently undulating in places and the newest holes now offer an interesting test to the older style of the golf course, with the wind playing a huge factor. Water comes into play on three of the holes, making tee shot placement an important part of playing at Chippenham. The Par 3 13th is particularly memorable, with stunning views of the Wiltshire Countryside.
The recent introduction of durabunkers on Holes 1,2,3 and 17 have been a great addition to the course, with more works in the pipeline, there are exciting times ahead for the course.
With five par 3’s, five par 5’s, and 8 Par 4’s there is plenty of interest in the layout.
